Once the R&R Environmental crew removes the bulk of water from your residence or commercial building, we shift our focus to structural drying. Our IICRC-trained Applied Structural Drying Technicians (ASD) use the moisture data collected during the assessment and water removal phase to determine drying goals for the structural components.
R&R Environmental maintains an inventory of air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers available at every water damage restoration worksite. The specialized equipment makes it much more likely to achieve the proper environment for structural drying.
Our efforts create a balance among air movement, temperature, and humidity to facilitate the movement of the water absorbed into structural components and fixtures into the air as vapor. Wet moves to dry, so as the air in the affected spaces warms, and the humidity drops, the absorbed moisture makes the transition. We strive to maintain the relative humidity below 40 percent create optimum conditions to encourage the moisture transference.
Our commercial-grade dehumidifiers capture the water vapor in the air. Evaporative humidifiers condense the water vapor back to a liquid, collecting it for permanent disposal. Desiccant humidifiers absorb the water using a chemical process.
Active drying helps ensure that collateral damage such as mold or mildew growth is limited or minimized after a water loss. Throughout the drying process technicians from R&R Environmental continue to monitor moisture levels in building materials. A close watch on relative humidity is also needed and charted by our skilled drying experts.
The equipment we use is positioned strategically at angles that accelerate the natural evaporative process. Although it is essential to dry out properties quickly, advanced trained guides our employees to guard against overdrying or to rapidly reaching a goal. We measure the moisture content of similar building materials in areas of the building unaffected by the water damage as insurance against overzealous drying.
